Nintendo president President Iwata has admitted that there will be a follow up to the Nintendo Wii console. However, the new system is in very early design stages, so not much else is known about it at the moment.
What could we expect from a Wii 2 console?
Well judging by Nintendo’s console history, they have a habit of giving consoles unqiue one-off names, so as yet nobody knows if the console would be called the "Wii 2", "Wii 2.0", or something completely different.
What we can probably assume is that a 2nd generation Wii console would include full high definition (HD) capabilities using a more powerfull graphics engine, more advanced motion sensoring, and hopefully a hard-disk drive.

Today Microsoft confirmed that the budget “Arcade” model of the Xbox 360 will be priced at $200 from this Friday. That is an $80 dollar saving on the previous price of $280, bringing it well under the price of the $250 Nintendo Wii.
The standard and Elite versions of the Xbox 360 models will also be reduced by $50 each.
As of yet there is no news on price drops of the Xbox 360 in the UK or Europe.
Microsoft is obviously thinking that they can boost sales with a sub $200 price tag.
So will Nintendo and Sony follow Microsoft’s lead and reduce their console prices? Only time will tell, but there is only one winner here and that is the consumer.
